Our floors and other selections!
Hey Y'all!
Well I can say that it didn't surprise me, or Shayne, that I used up our full appointment slot when picking out our floors yesterday morning. And honestly, those two hours flew by! I just loved it! It was probably painful for Shayne as he calls every piece of flooring, countertop, etc. "mid-century modern" even if it isn't remotely close to that design style. But remember how I gave him free rein with the electrical appointment as I have zero interest or knowledge in those sorts of things? Well, he kindly returned the favor! 😍 He's so great, and it's also just not his cup of tea.
On a previous post about our selections I told y'all how we downgraded to luxury vinyl planks because it was cheaper and more durable, while all that may be true, we changed them back to hardwoods as we weren't so crazy about the luxury vinyl planks in person. They are a good option though if you are looking to save money somewhere! But of course, now its time for tips and pics!
Helpful Tips:
*Be true to yourself and what usually catches your eye in regards to design, colors, styles, etc.! I almost picked super modern looking things and that's not us but thanks to Shayne, crisis averted! He will be a great better half come September!
*Think or talk it over about what is important or a must have in flooring, tile, etc. prior to going to the showroom and set a budget! It is so easy to go in and walk out having added thousands to your sales price.
*Take lots and lots and lots of pictures! I felt like I forgot what I picked as soon as we got back to the truck! Oh, and it helps to have pictures if you tend to doubt your choices, like I do and it will tide you over until your house is finished!
*Don't let the sales rep push you into making a decision because he/she thinks a certain choice makes mores sense or she might have another appointment approaching. I was pushed into doing tile in the laundry room rather than doing hardwoods like I wanted, despite my gut constantly screaming at me that I didn't like it.
and lastly,
*If you get home and don't like something or it just doesn't feel right, change it! It's your home so don't talk yourself into liking something; go with what you love (if within budget of course)! I changed the laundry to hardwood! 😊
Have courage and always be kind,

We also selected the Luna Pearl but chose to go with white cabinets, and we ended up selecting the premium vinyl that looked like hardwoods. Interested to see how it all turns out
ReplyDeleteHi James! The Luna Pearl is so pretty and it will look amazing with white cabinets!! White cabinets were an upgrade for us so I'm hoping it turns out well with the espresso as well. Are y'all building a florence?

No we are building a Sienna. We were in a big dilemma between the two and ended up mainly choosing Sienna for upstairs laundry and the fact that we are just going to use the dining room as an extension to the kitchen and put a giant island in there. Looking forward to following the progress.
