First Floor almost finished!? And a note on NVR mortgage
Hey Y'all!
So Shayne went by the house yesterday after work and the first floor is almost complete!! How crazy is that? Here we thought they were a little behind schedule but they are moving so quickly. I am getting so excited because it feels like home already and I haven't even been since the footers were placed and all that is there is concrete and wood! I wonder if this is how everyone has felt when building a home. I think not being able to drive by every day also adds to the excitement and the feeling as if they are just moving right along.
But, I finally get to go back by the house this coming Friday as I am in a wedding not too far from where the house is located. Considering how much progress they made on the first floor in such a short time, I bet they may have the second floor close to completion as well, we'll see! Now for the best part, pictures!
Oh but first a quick note on our mortgage because I realized I never mentioned it. We decided not to go with NVR mortgage company for a few reasons and this is not me trying to convince y'all to do the same, just our personal decisions. First, Ryan Homes and NVR are basically the same company and once our house is built and signed over to us, we didn't want them to have any more ties to it. I know that once it is ours it's ours but still, I have read a lot of reviews and it just didn't sit right with me. Secondly, our sales rep flat out told us that NVR will sell our mortgage to an actual lender not long after we close. That may or may not be a bad thing but we were hesitant for NVR to potentially make even more of a profit off of us and us not be able to choose our lender (NVR chooses who they sell it to). And thirdly, since we are new to the area, we really wanted to do our mortgage through a bank that we could build a long lasting relationship with. Those are just our reasons for not using NVR but my advice is to make the choice that feels right and best suits you!
Have courage and always be kind,
Mary-Louise and Shayne
